Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds feeding.
Buzzing wings - guard the nectar.
Interlopers flee.
One smaller hummer
darts and dodges. Expert wings.
Territory raid.
Watching to invade
it makes a move. They counter.
Fast rush. Wings ignite.
Around the porch post.
Wings stop - dropping like a stone.
They chase, unaware.
Out in the garden,
the defenders rocket on.
Falling for the trick.
Silently rising
the smart one sips at leisure.
Satisfied again.
