The Letter  

 Today;
A letter arrived
It looked important
It felt important
Bold black ink
Particular and precise
Expensive textured paper
Light caramel off white
A professional finish
Almost a work of art
I stared at it intensly
It then became clear
My mind started racing
It was not just important
This letter was vital
I would have been unable
To begin my important task
Without this letter
It was the letter ‘A’
My alphabet had begun
I patiently waited
For the postman
To deliver the next letter
Now full of anticipation
Hoping the next letter
Would be the letter ‘B’
