Magnum Farce
Inquiring about some "punk"'s luck
Not quite recalling the shot count
A click of the barrel
A roll of the dice
But turns out the "punk" was keeping track
"Yo, I'm feeling fortunate, cop," he chuckles
Picking up his own piece
While Harry reconsiders his tactics
Having been born under a very bad sign.

Thanks John. He usually managed to knock 'em off their feet with a well-placed shot. But he always gave them a chance...

I've always admired Clint ever since I was a kid. He was a stoic with a sardonic sense of humor. He matured into a fine actor and director. Audiences have always needed a hero, and he always delivered with style and a bit more realism than most. Thanks for the wonderful comment, my Irish lass!

I really enjoy this rendition of that scene...I'm interested in how Harry still manages to take down the "Punk." This is a fun piece, Crow...good luck in the comp.

That's the thing. He might not succeed. I'm a big Dirty Harry fan, but he was always such a superman. Not saying at all that he should get blown away, but the element of risk adds to the realism and the true jeopardy. Wondering with each fresh showdown if he's going to walk away. Still, no point in killing a great character (and a money making franchise). It's only a movie and intended as escapist entertainment fulfilling the audience's wish to see evil defeated. "Magnum Farce" is hardly any reflection on reality. The poem's just a little joke, but your great comment got me thinking. Thanks Gahdess!

Have you watched "Daredevil." The Netflix series. That's a show where you are always wondering if he will make it out alive. I used to enjoy the vulnerability that Harrison Ford exhibited in the Jack Ryan films. But with Clint you've got to remember that it's not only him that kicks butt but also his side-kicks Smith & Wesson :)

I love that show! Every time you think he's going down for the count he springs back to kick some more ass. It's a very clever series. Rosario Dawson is a complete babe, and Vincent D'Onofrio makes a perfect villain. Can't wait for season two!

You and me both...have you tried out Longmire?" That's another good one.

That's a good one too. He has kind of a Clint quality but a bit more humane. I also enjoy "House of Cards" with Kevin Spacey at his most evil. Robin Wright is a consolation.

I want to point out that "Born Under A Bad Sign" is the title of a blues rock song recorded by Cream centuries ago. I tossed in the "very." Thanks calamity! Sounds like you've had a bad run or two judging by your name. Hang in there!

Thanks Taryn! There was another scene in "Dirty Harry" in which Detective Callahan is confronted by thugs in a tunnel and tries to reason with them. He has to resort to violence with one saying, through clenched teeth, "You're not listening, asshole!" That always struck me as another memorable line. Maybe not of the same caliber as "Go ahead, make my day!" but it's up there with the better Clint quotes.
