to the beach of my childhood
I lay in the sand
and sank into mother nature's
warm, soft crevasses
as I pleaded with infinity
for the first time in my life
to please

just let this moment go on
for eternity
let this serenity stay with me
let me die here
on the shores of reality
while waves of dreams crash around my life
my body
this temple to Poseidon
let an earthquake swallow me whole
fulfill my dharma
because nothing in this life
will ever come as close to divinity
as this moment right here

just let me become a dream
a story
a character someone else created
a tragic antihero
broken by life
and playing chess with death

where I can look out to the ocean
and understand why sailors give their lives
to her vast contours
