Infidelity

Once upon a snowstorm
Your lips begot a kiss
And pressed, it was, to the column of my throat
Our eyes reflected icicles, mirroring wild winter
Or each other, sharp and brutal
Cheeks all rose with chill and thrill
Arms enveloping
You wore perfume of after-rain
I of smoke and secrets long forgotten
Stale scents, nonsense

Once upon a snowstorm
Flakes fell in our eyes
Glazing over guilt
Till sight was stolen and we saw only songs
Sung in silence anyway, borne from both our lungs
Songs of youth and yearning
For what we had and have; only each other
Thoughts of those beloved washed away like water
And your tongue shared shards of sorrow
Whilst lashing joy

Once upon a snowstorm
My lips brushed all your skin
And came to cradle your mouth, so sweet
A tender touch to your cheek, and mine
Before fear urged us fierce, owning every inch
My fingers, and yours, explored the pre-mapped flesh
Claimed each pioneer’s work our own
And let the heat of their unknowing cocoon us
As we made lust
And let lust make us, undone[/font]
