We Lie in Bed

I've read this poem over numerous times and something about it is off. It doesn't quite mesh together for me as a work of erotic poetry. That is merely an opinion and not said to impune you in any way.

The myriad permutations of desire, the sensual, sexuality, eroticism...

Tis a fascinating thing and, mayhap, a thing of some despair as well, that we seem to reside more and more within a culture solely concerned with instantaneous gratification and the immediate conflagration rather than the slow, tantalizing intimation and the teasing, taunting hint over hours, days, weeks, mayhap even months... ;-*

There is a special sort of anticipation that can build within the intimacy of a caress or two, butt to butt without more blatant interaction that builds so much more than can be adequately expressed; however, explosions have been known to result. ;-* But, then, you know all this, luv... ;-*

You see, when I stopped writing graphic sex, the  real eroticism emerged.  Quirky huh ? Less IS more

This poem evokes in me the sense of two lovers being comfortable and also very intimate and sensual with one another and in a fullfilling life together ....
Not a bad vision at all -- somthing to strive for really...
Of course all interpretation of poetry is subjective to a certain extend -- I am known for going straight to the happy part in my imagination-- an aries trait perhaps -- he he -- loved imagining the scenario you painted here....

It was a nice moment and I chose to write it as I often do ...

Tempts me to sum up, assuming the dog was a mongrel (mutt):

I caught the sound of the prowling mutt
As we awoke, lying butt to butt.

I already had one rhyme in there so that is my quota in any poem

She is a mutt though, my dog ...

That was spot on of me, I was expecting to be told it was another breed altogether.

In conclusion, a literally "stirring" piece, so much love and intimacy is contained in its few words.
