if groundhog day has this ending, I'd rather press the rewind button
You say you can’t do this anymore
never mind that this is what
family is for
The world spins around me
out of my control
but you don’t lend a hand
you just push me back
out into the void
and tell me I need to learn
how to swim
like this troubled path
is a ocean I need to conquer
when no one has conquered it yet
You never ask me how I am
you never ask me what I want
or what I need to get there
It must be lonely in your ivory tower
playing God with human little ants
like your misery is better than my misery
because you got there
using someone else’s ticket
for an easier ride that didn’t
turn out so fun once you’d signed
your soul away
I’ve never been one
to follow in anybody’s footsteps
and I’ll sure as hell never follow yours
when all your advice is null and void
as you speak of change
while following history’s
unhappy routine
like tomorrow is bound
to a better outcome
You say you can’t do this anymore
like there is an easy way out
that doesn’t involve me alone
on these small town streets
in the middle of winter
