For Mom

When people write Mother's Day poems
They are full of,
"When I think of my mom, the word feels like a warm hand" and sap like that
But I want to tell it how it really is.
My mom,
Is the one who drags me out of bed and drives me to school because the bus is too crowded, or because I am simply too lazy to wake up early enough to catch the bus
The one who tolerates when I blast heavy metal music from my room
The one who encourages my academic goals
My mom is the one who takes me to the hospital when my various aches and pains spill out of my body in screams and tears
My mom is the one who trucks me back and forth to my doctor's appointments and x-rays,
The one who enables my hectic social life
My mom is the one who loves me for who I am,
Who loves me regardless of what I say or do
My mom is the one who protects me and disciplines me
My mom is the one who puts up with me
