A Stranger I Know
Distance, an ache today.
Longing,
An invisible thing
Clamps onto the beat
In my chest, works harder
Caging it there
To suffer, to wait.
Pain in my head
As the pressure builds.
Words stuck in my throat
In my pen, instead
My eyes speak
The language, water flowing
Rolling down
All is pushed through them.
With one look,
You would understand.
I need to fold into
The safety of unconditional love.
Disappear under blanket hugs,
Fingers to delicately push
The hair behind my ears,
Brushing my cheek, comforting.
To hold a space for me,
Filter my pain
Let me tremble, to be reverent
Silent
Amidst the deafening force
Of these emotions,
Taking over me,
My body,
For this moment.
