Fairy tales and Imaginary Friends (if easily offended, please read)
In need of new surroundings
and desperate in my search
I let someone persuade me in
to visiting their church
I realise when I take a seat
that this is a mistake
I feel the walls start closing in
as my hands start to shake
Drowning in a sea of faces
my ears burn from their stares
They talk nonsense amongst themselves
and suck up all the air
The preacher walks up to the front
and my ears start to ring
As several of the kids rise up
and volunteer to sing
And all applaud their strange display
of how much they believe
I fight the urge to warn them all
that they have been deceived
And then the old man reads some of
his favorite fairy tale
He baffles them with bollocks
and threatens them with hell
And when he finally finishes
they fold their hands in prayer
My ears ring even louder still
as bullshit fills the air
Can't say that I was not amused
at their bizarre display
Perhaps if I get really bored
i'll go again someday
and desperate in my search
I let someone persuade me in
to visiting their church
I realise when I take a seat
that this is a mistake
I feel the walls start closing in
as my hands start to shake
Drowning in a sea of faces
my ears burn from their stares
They talk nonsense amongst themselves
and suck up all the air
The preacher walks up to the front
and my ears start to ring
As several of the kids rise up
and volunteer to sing
And all applaud their strange display
