wanderer
What has faded is already lost
And what is lost cannot be found
Into aloneness once more
Old ties cut off
Wandering seamlessly
Into vast consciousness
Fearless
Sadder yet stronger
Than ever before
Hurt and cut,
No bruises, just deep wounds
Damaging my nerves;
The pain keeps me company
My footprints fade in the sand
And I stare, unblinking, from behind a sandstorm
Watching, hoping signs from my trail
Will remain.
I wonder once more,
As the cold wind stings my face,
If anything at all
Awaits me at the end of this lonely path
Once more I look back
Like I always do
Once more
I fight off the urge to return
And what is lost cannot be found
Into aloneness once more
Old ties cut off
Wandering seamlessly
Into vast consciousness
Fearless
Sadder yet stronger
Than ever before
Hurt and cut,
No bruises, just deep wounds
Damaging my nerves;
The pain keeps me company
My footprints fade in the sand
And I stare, unblinking, from behind a sandstorm
Watching, hoping signs from my trail
Will remain.
I wonder once more,
As the cold wind stings my face,
If anything at all
Awaits me at the end of this lonely path
Once more I look back
Like I always do
Once more
I fight off the urge to return
