Bipolar Coaster
First elation, then depression
A giddy rise in expectation
Hopes springing in the wind
Assurances that all will be well
Everything the brightest hues
Music rising from the asphalt
Warmth and comic smoke
But then, the inevitable then
Snickers it was all for show
Self-deception in its ragged form
A fantasy grown to mocking proportions
A projection slipping through the turnstile
Saying "Bye bye babe, nice try
Better luck next ride."
A giddy rise in expectation
Hopes springing in the wind
Assurances that all will be well
Everything the brightest hues
Music rising from the asphalt
Warmth and comic smoke
But then, the inevitable then
Snickers it was all for show
Self-deception in its ragged form
A fantasy grown to mocking proportions
A projection slipping through the turnstile
Saying "Bye bye babe, nice try
Better luck next ride."

This is a too familiar feeling. Excellent and disparaging write. Well worded.

In a way I'm sorry to hear that Sammy. In another I'm glad it might have made sense to you. It's a syndrome that's hard for me to portray.

I only get the depression part. But it has a distinct timing that ruins a lot of good days. I wish you the best my friend. Know you have people who understand what you go through.

re: Re: Bipolar Coaster
Manic depression is spoken of as one of the more treatable disorders, and this is true for some with the right meds. I think that varies widely in effectiveness. I have my good days and bad, but it's still worth the ride. Thanks so much Schiitaryn.

Thanks Katja. Sorry about your own coaster thrills, but I'm glad I'm not alone.

I can relate to this roller coaster of emotions all too well, I think the way you have shared your feeling in an abstract way is truly remarkable. I love the way you express the harsher side of feelings with such intensity.
I love the last two lines especially, still hope, see you on the upside hunni!

I'm just glad it wasn't too abstract. And yes, I'll see you there, Jaded. The climb's the best part!

Great write, Crowfly. The final three lines brought heaviness to the amusement park atmosphere.

Thanks McJay. I'll try to keep it up as long as possible. It's a steep drop down...

Great write. Roller coasters can be such a great metaphor for ups and downs.

Yes they are, but I'm too chicken to actually get on one. Maybe I should face my fears.

Whoa! That was dual-impacting, with such a light, heady jazz-carnival feeling from the cadence and pace and a horrifying flash from nighttime to daytime and back from the words. Fine craftsmanship crowfly, hope the clarity yields you some control of the condition as well.
