Sister Erica
Erica,Sister Erica,
Where are you now?
In Heaven no doubt!
She was killed in a car accident
Yesterday - Good Friday.
(Like Christ and Abraham Lincoln).
At the Church she attended,
They have lunch afterward.
I remember last Sunday,
She was passing by my table,
On her way out.
"Erica, look in the mirror," I said,
As I was holding up a red flower
(That had been left there as a decoration).
"Yes, this is an invisible mirror.
You are seeing your reflection,
You are a special flower," I told her.
She smiled her cat-like smile.
(She has a short cat-like nose.)
A month ago,
There was a class on "angelology"
That she attended.
And now she,herself, is among the angels.
For Christ plainly tells us,
"Those who are found worthy to attain..
Resurrection from the dead..
Are EQUAL TO the angels,
Being children of the Resurrection"(Luke 20.35-36).
But how can she be an angel already,
For she has died but not been resurrected?
Oh yes she has!
She has ALREADY been resurrected,
For Christ's Resurrection
Is our resurrection too!
For Apostle Paul writes,
"In baptism we die with Christ
And are raised with Him!"(Romans 6.4; Colossians 2.12).
Yes, she has her Angelic body,
Yes, her Resurrection body,
Yes, even now, I trust.
When she was with us,
She worked as a veternarian.
Only 28 years old,
She had already been in Mongolia as a missionary.
She had planned to go back this May,
To the other side of the world.
But instead she has crossed over The Other Side.
May God assign her to watch over us,
The friends she had, and has still,
At Church - Faith Bible Fellowship.

Thanx so much, especially the words about "the invisible mirror." She seemed a little "slow" and shy. Yet She graduated college, went on to get a Vet degree. And not shy enough to be deterred from traveling on missionary trips to Haiti and Mongolia! She sort of reminds me of Gladis Aylward, the diminuative woman, a chambermaid from England who traveled alone in the late 1930s on the Siberian railroad to China to assist an elderly missionary. Her story (set in the time of the Japanese invasion,etc) became the hit 1958 movie, "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness," starring Ingrid Bergman.What a shocker! She was challenged to go into a Chinese jail and disarm a prisoner who was stabbing others with a butcher knife - "if you believe in the Christian God like you claim". She accepted the offer, going in, saying "give me that knife." He did. And she went from being called, "foreign devil," to being praised as "the virtuous one,"
