Fed up with love and opening up
Broken again
Awful taste of distrust
I let you in like a fool
Should have known it would end this way
I broke my number one rule
When I built the fortress around my heart
It was for protection to always keep my heart from harm
Your words and smile made feel safe again
Brick by brick I tore the fortress away to expose my heart
To let you in stupid me
Broken empty
Crying
Why does it hurt so bad
I was stupid
I can't make that mistake again
Time to build of the fortress and lock my heart in.

Love the personification of using a fortress as defense from gettin hurt. Real creative....Well done. Keep up the metaphors and imagery: will make your poetry stand out! JEa!

I love this write. A lot of familiar feelings from my past experiences in this write. I know very well how that feels and its miserable. Excellent imagery, well done piece.
