Façade
If your eyes were daggers they would slit my throat.
That inflamed look on your face and grimace of your lips,
As you say how much you care about me.
I look around wondering why no one else sees this but me.
Astounded to think that people actually believe the words that are coming out of your mouth.
That there could be any truth to the fabrications that you produce in that twisted mind.
I used to defend you, thinking that you really weren’t aware of what you do.
Just mood swings that manifest themselves into vindictive persecution of others.
Meanwhile, playing ignorant to your actions, yet apologizing for anything you may have done wrong.
Useless justifications for why you are the way you are and I’m faulted for not accepting your insincerity.
No longer playing into your manipulations and doing what everyone around you has done and enabling this intolerable behavior.
You see me as meek…
Quiet yes, but no fool to my surroundings, quite aware of your intentions and yet,
I could care less! ... You are not that important to me. I can just walk away.
I don’t need to put on any façade or paint myself more perfect than what I am.
And I feel sorry for you that your life’s fulfillment rests on the defamation of others to gain your own self-glorification.
