Cataract

Cataract

The glare, the focus of the trees brings comfort to the ribs.
They're there, they're there, the blood told me so.
I hid in a thorn bush to avoid drowning but I got stuck.
My smile's not changed, it's just bigger.
Bigger is better, they say.

I used to flood and drain like a cataract.
So easily pushed, so easily pulled back.
I hung pictures up on my beating heart
Just to reflect and hide what was really going on.
I used to breathe in the air of cataracts.
Now I burn these pictures and watch the flame pull back.
Fade with the cataracts.

I see clouds and boats and hear whistles miles away.
But I stop moving while dolphins play.
That's how I was when I'd play life as a video game.
Up, double jump to the moon.
Oh, shoot me up there please.
