I am my own shadow
Sunlight streams in through the window
It casts a silhouette against the wall
I stare looking to see
Is my shadow staring back at me
On a wall there you sit
Calm, cold and black
A shadow of the body
Or the body of the soul
An outline of darkness
That shows only minor aspects of myself
It falls over me
Consumes me as sunlight fades
Pretending its following me
When I was the one walking towards it
I am my own shadow
My own shadow is me
It casts a silhouette against the wall
I stare looking to see
Is my shadow staring back at me
On a wall there you sit
Calm, cold and black
A shadow of the body
Or the body of the soul
An outline of darkness
That shows only minor aspects of myself
It falls over me
Consumes me as sunlight fades
Pretending its following me
When I was the one walking towards it
I am my own shadow
My own shadow is me
