Acid Rain
'Tis the winter of discontent
My mood in quick descent
Perhaps a tab of orange sunshine
Will warm up this brain of mine
But white lightning hits the ground
Strikes with a crackling sound
Sparks spiral through the air
Then land sizzling in my hair
This leaves me standing in a daze
Absorbing purple haze
So please excuse me when I fly
Take time out to fuck the sky
The clouds reach their climax
Semen dropping with loud smacks
The stratus report me "the perfect lover"
Beseech me not to run for cover
But so much for the weather
Got to get my shit together
The last forecast calls for helter skelter
So come on and gimme shelter.
My mood in quick descent
Perhaps a tab of orange sunshine
Will warm up this brain of mine
But white lightning hits the ground
Strikes with a crackling sound
Sparks spiral through the air
Then land sizzling in my hair
This leaves me standing in a daze
Absorbing purple haze
So please excuse me when I fly
Take time out to fuck the sky
The clouds reach their climax
Semen dropping with loud smacks
The stratus report me "the perfect lover"
Beseech me not to run for cover
But so much for the weather
Got to get my shit together
The last forecast calls for helter skelter
So come on and gimme shelter.

There are so many intended or unintended innuendos in this poem, I am not sure what to do with them. This is a poem deserving of at few good reads to fully absorb. Great work...

Thanks, Virginia. It helps (or wounds) to have grown up in the '60s, and to have taken more than my fair share of LSD, which I do not recommend. If it opened any doors of perception it also had some pretty terrifying side effects.

Thanks, Lady Crim. That imagery was etched with acid. I wouldn't go near lysergic preparations these days. My mind was blown enough.

Amazing. As a child I was obsessed with the 60s (after discovering "The Monkees" which I know was definitely not the most apt epitome). At ten I had my first nehru suit and white go go boots and was constantly drawing flowers on my face. This poem evokes perfectly that spirit, I think. Witty and straightforward, and so many good lines. One of your best surely. Thank you so much, Crow.

And thank you, Toni. It's interesting that Jimi Hendrix was once the opening act for The Monkees. A tough act to follow, but "I'm A Believer" probably served them well.

I don't know why but this poem reminds me of a song "dizzy" by Tommy Roe. Look it up and see what I mean. Enjoyed the read Crowfly.

I remember it well. "My head is spinning / like a whirlpool / and it never ends / and it's you girl making it spin." Thanks, Grace.

I love the erotic mixed with nature...a real turn on for me, to be able to actually fornicate or fuck with the elements..now that's a beautiful ink..
So delicious.
