Ephemeral happiness

It was foolish of me
to imagine eternal happiness
much like the ephemeral flower
never feeling the sun again
when the darkness begins to peel
out of sight
guard your happiness
for the light will
creep up on you and steal your happiness
when you least expect it
In order to find it again
you must dig through the surface
be wary of the surface
for clouds hold a powerful drowning flood above your head
no matter how hard you try to escape it,
you never can
it brings you down lower and lower
you will say
"it's all in my head"
it may be
but are you just over thinking it?
Maybe,
but who am I to correct anyone?
the body is an indestructible disease
that cannot be escaped nor cured
a disease much longer lasting
than short lived happiness
