Black Heart

You tried to teach me to pray
But you just taught me to hate
All of the others that
Were different than me

But when the holy word
Miserably failed the dirge
A brittle boulder
Crumbling beneath the surge

There is no holy scripture in my heart
No preaching hypocrites, ‘til death do us part
No tattered bibles with torn pages flapping in the wind
Nothing to hold me at bay, I am not God-sent

You cannot baptize me
My soul belongs beyond reach
As far away as possible
From the hands that leech

You cannot save my soul now
If I am now hellbound
I will go silently without a sound
I am hellbound

I was born when tragedy
Married to misery
Conceived a bastard forged
In pain’s crucible

The days are now long gone
When I cared to sing a song
All of me that remains
A collection of bones

There is no savior to deliver me
But, no, instead I have a burning seed
Pass on by, what do you expect to witness now gone
On this cold desolate road, I walk alone

Lash me and crucify
It’s what you do best, deny
As hypocrite is what you are
In groups of outcries

You cannot save my soul now
If I am now hellbound
I will go silently without a sound
I am hellbound
