Beyond Death
that death should come
like a thief in the night
flying off the souls
before dawn light
That man should grieve
for their dearly departed
never knowing the destinations...
to be anointed or to burn
deathland indeed is of imagining
will it be Elysian fields
or the sombre halls of purgatory
perhaps fluffy clouds and golden harps
Although I wish my deathland
will be of my dreamland
a small cabin in the woods
of perpetual autumn
before a lake with blossoming hyacinths.

Re: Beyond Death
Such a beautiful vision, dear Grace, like an oasis of woodland beauty between the two extremes of gloomy darkness and unearthly cloudscapes... and in its' simpler, more down-to-earth beauty it is the heaven I can easiest relate to and understand. I love the autumn too, and springtime as well, so for me a heaven of perpetual autumn would not be so bad, especially amidst such cheery, lovely surroundings as you paint in your poem. Thanks for sharing such a vision! It is a peaceful one indeed. :D

Beautiful isn't it. I remember our collabs a long time ago. I wish I will have that paradise after I die. Thanks dear Jessica for reading.

I really like your idea of heaven, the cabin in the woods. It may or not be reachable at the end, but I do hope so. The beyond is a mystery. This poem is a beauty.

Wish we could all know what really happens after death. Is there really life after death in a different dimension for our mortal souls to go?
Your ideal place of a cabin in the woods after death is my dream respite while I'm still alive.
Good read Grace...good luck!

Mine too. I hope someday I will but if I carry that beyond death...that could be a perfect Eden. :) Thanks for reading EngrVV.

An excellent piece that really makes you wonder what exists through death's doorway. The first verse got my attention. Wonderful, wonderful write, Grace!
