Regrets
Leaves falling on her loneliness
a sentinal weighed down by memories
promises left strewn like petals
accompanying a hearse to its destination
regrets and not a few hugged her heart
to think that she dared to love again
and leave her beloved alone aching
for a few more seasons to love together
he was her best friend her confidante
taking her brokenness and making her whole
kissing away her tears soothingly
she loved him truly in their years together
But time brought death
merciless knowing no love
she was taken leaving him in pain
"I'm so sorry please forgive me"
She whispered as she faded away
He thought of her often
his beloved soulmate
he echoed her words
"I'm so sorry darling forgive me"

This is beautiful and, of course, sad. Life can go on as long as there's forgiveness, particularly for survivors forgiving themselves. I'm not sure I really understood this, but it's another one for me to think about. Thanks, Grace.

There are many interpretations of course but this poem is about loving but then death takes one of them away,too early. Thus the apology for leaving and the other one apologise for not being able to leave together. Thanks for reading Crowfly. Appreciated:) .

Oh Grace, this poem is so very sad, but beautiful and well written at the same time! It reminds me of how I've been coming to terms with all of my past-life memories, the memories in particular of past loves, losses, and how those losses affect those of us who must go on. It is something I, and so many others can relate to methinks, and it is never an easy thing! But time sometimes give us back what once it took... it merely takes a while for such things to come full circle. But all things that were before, can come again when the circles of time turn enough to allow it. Death may have its' season, like winter, but life too has its' springtime season! That is the beauty of love, it is like a flower... it can spring again no matter how harsh the wintertime. Very great and profound verses, Grace! Very thought-provoking stuff. :)
