What is it about grief?

Now it has come to this
A time for me to reminisce

All the memories flood my brain
Keeping me awake again

First I laugh and then I smile
Next comes the pain that lasts a while

The hole in my heart will always be
But the thoughts of her help it heal

Seeing friends and family today
They were here and now away

Thank you everyone for being there
Bringing up memories we all share

Now comes the time for my own grief
Days of sadness and then relief

As I go through days, months, and years
I’ll need you, friend, to be near

So don’t shy away when I am happy or sad
Grief is something we all have had
