Dear Not so Near

Gasps of time when far seems too distant
times when almost touching I hear
him breathing
saying something together at once
bridging the distance
finishing each other's sentence

laughing at silly jokes
falling and hurting together
that weird mirror effect
lending nearness with awareness

So dear far over the horizon
so near on tip of fingertips
lips almost brushing
Meeting of two beating hearts

Just that
Near together apart.
