Childhood Memories (anger and apathy)
I am broken
a dog kicked too often as a puppy
left with a limp and a fear of the hand that feeds.
Apathy creeps into my thoughts and starts swelling
into the corners of my brain
Like one of those sponge animals in a capsule
Just add water.
My teeth feel too big for my mouth,
too big for my whole head.
They long to bite and tear flesh from bone.
They long to be bared,
naked in the moonlight
as my throat grows hoarse from howling into the darkness.
I feel discontent,
kicked too often as a pup until I lost my growl.
The yelling turned inward
shredding myself into pieces for every mistake I made.
Until all that was left
was obedience
and tattered pieces.
