The Beach and the Sea
Should I care?
Should I not?
Back and forth
like a wave, you come roaring
and then stumble gently away.
I am the beach.
You are the sea.
Your waves crash down on me
to leave shells of beauty and creative work.
Just as the shells stick
to the suck of my sand,
you pour back to take them away once more.
Crowded and over powered,
I compare your sea-birthed glitz
to my simple grains.
Talk of beauty and fashion.
Ignorance of my fires and passion.
Litter my shores with well desired dazzle
of shells and I'll swallow them down,
because I am the beach.
I can not live without the sea,
but you stay vast,
open,
and free.
Should I not?
Back and forth
like a wave, you come roaring
and then stumble gently away.
I am the beach.
You are the sea.
Your waves crash down on me
to leave shells of beauty and creative work.
Just as the shells stick
to the suck of my sand,
you pour back to take them away once more.
Crowded and over powered,
I compare your sea-birthed glitz
to my simple grains.
Talk of beauty and fashion.
Ignorance of my fires and passion.
Litter my shores with well desired dazzle
of shells and I'll swallow them down,
because I am the beach.
I can not live without the sea,
but you stay vast,
open,
and free.
