Meditation
The silence of a room,
The potential held in that one space.
An art so deep and purely textured
Coated with nothingness that gives us the key to existence,
How can meditation be evil?
How can a spiritual form that was taught to me
A form that has made me so peaceful
be considered among the depths of the world that I am not taught
How can something so powerful be considered that way?
I know that meditation has its different types,
But just because I recite a chant that you may not understand
Why would that make me evil?
"Nam myoho renge kyo"
"Nam myoho renge kyo"
I will chant
Until I have devoted myself to the law of Buddha
To live peacefully,
To live selflessly.
The mind is very powerful,
It holds the key to most in the universe
That which is aligned with us
That which makes us whole
But how can I achieve a peaceful mindset knowing that I am shamed for what I do?
You want to put me down
Send me to 'hell'
Just because I want to make myself peaceful
Because I want to manifest good in the universe.
Excuse me for practicing what I was taught
And excuse me for not shouting and screaming to God
And I'm sorry that I was taught that I didn't have to beg and plead to get what I need
I'm sorry for believing and knowing
Because what good is screaming and speaking in tongues
And begging and pleading
In languages you can't and probably never will understand,
Instead of being peaceful and calm
And knowing that what you need is coming
And what you are taught is good.
Namaste.
