My Familiar, Unknown Road

Wandering down a very known road,
yet I find myself lost.
The surroundings haven't changed,
but it seems so different.
The road appears empty,
still I feel the eyes.
There is definitely something off the norm,
Why can I not place it?
People lined along the sides,
their faces without character.
People I've known forever,
I can't seem focus on them.
As I walk farther down this road,
I can't put anything together.
Why is everything completely different now?
Why has my home become foreign?
I look a little closer all around,
my reality sets in.
I'm staring into my bedroom mirror,
horrified at what I see.
I created my home, my safety net,
as if to get away...
I imagined walking down the road back home,
all to get away from here.
I needed the road to lead me to the light,
the light that will save me.
The road lead me away from my hell,
only to bring me back face.
The road brought me happiness for a moment,
so my reality hit me that much more.
I look inside and save the address...
the address to the familiar unknown road.
The road that brought the truth...
the road that is mine to travel.
Alone.
My road of self accountability
