let's (not) hug
The words fell out of my mouth
Before I could take them back
And colour me a liar
Brand me a fake
I didn't mean a single
Fucking thing I said
I'm not happy to see you
And, no, we shouldn't catch up
I couldn't revive it
Please believe me, I couldnt revive it
I couldn't take us back
To that place where we fit
In conjoined misery
And overly philosophical navel gazing
There is and was no purpose
Or point to our pain
And I grew up as I watched you
Go under again
So forgive me when I say
I'm not strong enough to save a life
Not strong enough
To save your life
Let it be enough that I loved you once
So we can quit this air-kiss pretence
Of "I'm happy to see you"
When we run into each other
In public
