Glory Be To God
What must a man do to hold true to his beliefs
Murder for the right to be a free man
Or face the cold bite of iron swords?
Here we are, spit upon and called the pagans
For refusing to crawl with pining sheep
And kneel to a faith that was not mine
Burn our house and homes
All in the name of God
Bairns put to the sword
All in the name of God
Persecute, Absolute
Glory be to God
Resolute, Execute
Glory be to God
Invading armies under a banner white
Stained red from miles of villainous torture
To refuse their Lord is to die now
A traitorous king abusing his power
Olaf stains the blood of the All-father
For the sake of his Christian belief
Slaughtering our world
All in the name of God
Slay daughters and sons
All in the name of God
Persecute, Absolute
Glory be to God
Resolute, Execute
Glory be to God
Us few stand firm in the face of destruction
The cruel flames licking the ground around us
Trying to force us down to our knees
The Christian horde marches steadily forward
As I send a silent prayer to Thor
Give me the strength to stand without fear

That reminds me of the chants of our shamans during the Japanese occupation...that the sea shall rise upon them and the sky will open and destroy them and their children and their children in turn...what Isis is doing to the innocent was what the children of the rising sun did to us.

This poem is incredibly moving, heart-wrenching, and powerful. I have oft wondered who gets to determine the answers to queries such as these.
While religious persecution is still prevalent in many ways, in many cultures, in the United States, we appear to have replaced in some ways (though there are still those practicing religious segregation and degradation, certainly)these conundrums with an overwhelming injunction to be normal. Now, oft-times, I find myself wondering who gets to determine THAT and why and how.
Your poem is quite remarkable and resonates deeply within me, luv. :-*
