LOG CABIN IN THE WOODS

Driving down this dusty old gravel road
Leading to the log cabin in the woods
Got this gut feeling I’ve been here before
Could be in my past life, I’m not quite sure
All I know is I’m familiar with this road

Take me home country roads
As John Denver used to sing
West Virginia, mountain Mama
Take me home country roads…

The call of the wild is very strong—
so strong for the weak and weary soul
to resist…and for how long
will this rendezvous with nature could endure
as the dusk is slowly closing in.

Just the thoughts of living peacefully
in a log cabin by the woods
totally off-the-grid but online;
complete with modern amenities
and a library full of books including mine,
fills my heart with zest
while my mind knows best.

There I would write the best love poem
ever written yet…after a hard day’s work:
planting fruits and vegetables
raising chickens and other farm animals
to sustain and nourish our minds,
as we spend our golden years
in that lovely log cabin in the woods.
