LOG CABIN IN THE WOODS
Driving down this dusty old gravel road
Leading to the log cabin in the woods
Got this gut feeling I’ve been here before
Could be in my past life, I’m not quite sure
All I know is I’m familiar with this road
Take me home country roads
As John Denver used to sing
West Virginia, mountain Mama
Take me home country roads…
The call of the wild is very strong—
so strong for the weak and weary soul
to resist…and for how long
will this rendezvous with nature could endure
as the dusk is slowly closing in.
Just the thoughts of living peacefully
in a log cabin by the woods
totally off-the-grid but online;
complete with modern amenities
and a library full of books including mine,
fills my heart with zest
while my mind knows best.
There I would write the best love poem
ever written yet…after a hard day’s work:
planting fruits and vegetables
raising chickens and other farm animals
to sustain and nourish our minds,
as we spend our golden years
in that lovely log cabin in the woods.
Leading to the log cabin in the woods

Where peace and quiet can't be achieved, they're worth every effort to die for...well said Soul!
Thank you as always and thanks for steering me to the right direction in finding what we're looking for in WV.

My first record on my Mickey Mouse record player was John Denver so I am smiling big time. Going deeper into the composition reminded me of Jackson Browne's house. He has been off the grid for awhile now.
Let me when I can stop by with the guitar.

The first song I learned to play on the guitar was John Denver's because the chords were easy and the lyrics were not hard to sing.
This is just on the drawing board right now...if ever it materializes and when that happens, Soul and I will be jamming with you bro. Jazzman!

I'm glad you can relate to this jvp, as part of the inspiration comes from one of your poems about your Dad selling his piece of the woods and also from the comment by Missy in your "a better country" post. Hence I got started writing Back to Nature and this piece.
I saw a 2-acre property in Berkely Springs with the help of Soul which fits the bill, but not my pocket...I'll keep on looking till I turn this dream of mine into reality!
Thank you jvp...

In this modern world the younger generation don't know what they are missing...it's the simple joys in life that make it worth living.
Thanks Jem for your wonderful comment; I'm glad you can relate!

A moment of peace, away from the hustle and bustle of city life.... Just give me some serenity and a book shelf filled with books, glass of wine with a paper and pen and I'll be just fine enjoying my own company.... Definitely loved the imagery in this piece and the soothing peaceful vibe it gave off... Nice.
