RETREAT IN THE WOODS
While I wander through the wide expanse of woods
I hear screaming seemingly from a woman in despair
I must be dreaming because there's nothing I could see
Except for a colorful bird perched upon a sky-reaching tree
Its wings tangled with the shiny branch, trying to set free
Free the bird from its misery comes to my bewildered mind
As I climb up high, I see a river farther down below
Free at last, the bird magnificently takes its flight
Following the contours of the river—I keep it in sight
Making some detours when big boulders block my path
Down yonder the fork I hear a loud whooshing sound
I wonder what could it be, so I walk and look around
Silhouette of a woman bathing under a waterfall
Dazzles me with surprise, into the water—I fall
Because that’s where I have seen the bird landed
With arms outstretched just like Christ on the cross
Fright is far-fetched from my mind although I’m at a loss
As the cold water trickles down embracing my nakedness
I try to calm down while thinking of such foolishness
Free as the bird, my spirit soar high into the blue yonder
My spirit soaring high is the true meaning of life
Completely worry-free to do anything that I like
Being one with nature away from the world of strife
Enjoying the sights and sounds no one has ever heard
Only in my retreat in the woods where peace resides
