Savoring The Pain
Your indifference
is maddening
crazy thing though
I love the pain of it
chewing glass
spitting blood onto the page
mixed with venom, pretty poison
you darlin are immune
to my insanity
much as I'd like to infect you with it
you remain strong and true
I guess that's what I admire about you
the world could be crashing down
and you would ride on
cool as can be
with a wicked smile on your face
I wish to learn this trick
wisdom my savior
though I turn my head on this virtue
instead running into the fire
of the world as it is
consuming me it burns like acid
though I glory in the scars I've acquired
battle wounds I savor they remind me I'm alive
is maddening

I can relate to the sentiments here all too well and have known the type you describe in stanzas 4 and 5. This is flawless

It would be really ironic if you were writing this on your lunch break. Maybe you are a corporate vice president of a bank or some such profession.
That would give me hope ....

Ahh, Ms Brenda.
I've been away, returned to find you
writing and sharing again. :)
This word assembly, as always, is superb.
I like it a lot!
There could be no pleasure if we knew not pain.
..
Happy to see you're back!

Unrequited love? (lust?) Worse, ignorance of your adoration or even existence?
Achingly well written, I am left with a sense deep melancholy after reading this.
