PIERCING YOUR CONSCIENCE

So many youths nowadays would prefer keeping up with the kardashians
Than knowing the truth that affects them due to misconduct of politicians
They would rather spend hours on queues to get a celebrity’s autograph
Than show up for a rally supporting a revolutionary change across the map
Some peeps don’t have a mind of their own, except imitating some crap
All new fashion trends and lifestyles alien to our cultures they easily adapt
Every day I see ignorance becoming widely accepted as a social norm
Kids nowadays seem to know everything but lack discipline in every form
I careless about what you think I’m no preacher I’m just thinking out loud
Many have lost their uniqueness coz they choose to blindly follow the crowd

Many don’t know who they are coz they let the opinions of others define them
People desire change but none is willing to admit to being part of the problem
I’m human admitting I have flaws but I would never support evil against humanity
My friend Lumumba, told me my revolutionary ideas are spurred by consistency
Tenaciously I’ve stuck to my ideology knowing my fight is for the sake of prosperity
Let’s be objective in our commentaries and criticism devoid of inciting animosity
Let’s also be enlightened and armed with facts to challenge our leaders impunity
No man can do everything but we all can do something to change our society
A step towards our emancipation from misrule starts by changing our mentality  

Whenever I write, I place myself in the position of many disadvantaged souls  
I feel fortunate with a pen, I seek to address some ills I see getting outta control
I know the challenges we all go through vary depending on our places of origin
If you look closely poverty is widespread all over the country on a high margin
The suffering people go through is not discriminatory we all have our fair share
For some the plight of others doesn’t concern them so they act like they don’t care
We can’t achieve greatness and triumph over evil if we ain’t our brother’s keeper
If all the doctrines preach peace then who are we fighting for? if you think deeper
Some peeps don’t know the real God so they follow the devil the greatest deceiver  

Everybody is blessed with his/her unique talents but only a few discover that
The potentials to take charge of our destiny lies in our hands none can take that
If you believe so much in the teachings of another man who incites you to do wrong
Then you are not fit to be called human, the animal kingdom is where you belong
For some of us we are saddled with a selfless responsibility to challenge evil
With the knowledge possessed, we put to test its power to liberate the people
