Oh! “mono no aware”
Do you want to learn to write poetry,
or do you have a story to tell me,
I want to hear them all!
Are you a question to answer,
or are you an answer that finds,
The poet free from worry;
those days are the best of blithe.
The poet of dilatations,
who will look through words of beauty,
through a disguise.
A poet so based on
the nature of things;
they have no reason or rhyme.
Naturally!
The further from the original source
the closer to non existence you will become;
Come about!
For the love of it!
I say!
You will be heard; listen,
You will quiet your mind; listen,
You will find your words; listen,
And then you write.
"I asked the boy beneath the pines.
He said, "The master's gone alone,
Herb-picking somewhere on the mount,
Cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown."
