Forgotten

silent, forgotten
mildewed and mouldering
behind untrimmed hedges
they sit silent as dead crows
contemplating loneliness
of years to come

once they were sought
by the opulent
and the corpulent
the poverty stricken
and the richly laden
the soft and the hardened

once they were blessed
with songs of nature
twitters, peeps long and short
or sudden burst of trumpets
laden with gaseous scents
now silence reigned

once they were as thrones
now, all but forgotten.
