My Star
Sometimes I sit on the grass
And have to remind myself
Some things just don't last,
That's why I'm by myself.
As I look up, at a million billion stars,
Even just that ten mile move made them look so different.
Because my favorite star of all, the one that warmed my heart,
Used to sit two feet by my side, and now she's just so distant.
Even after three years, time still hasn't blinded me
From what the good old days were like,
Why can't time let me think that I'm still with her, that we're still a "we"?
Even if all I'm believing is another lie.
Gimme back my star,
Put it back by my side,
Gimme back my star,
Return the old sky,
The one that I loved,
Because I was loving it with her,
The one that I saw above,
Instead of this one, looking down on me and all this hurt.
And have to remind myself
Some things just don't last,
That's why I'm by myself.
As I look up, at a million billion stars,
Even just that ten mile move made them look so different.
Because my favorite star of all, the one that warmed my heart,
Used to sit two feet by my side, and now she's just so distant.
Even after three years, time still hasn't blinded me
From what the good old days were like,
Why can't time let me think that I'm still with her, that we're still a "we"?
Even if all I'm believing is another lie.
Gimme back my star,
Put it back by my side,
Gimme back my star,
Return the old sky,
The one that I loved,
Because I was loving it with her,
The one that I saw above,
Instead of this one, looking down on me and all this hurt.
