Cold
I set the candles ablaze with my last match.
I cranked the electric heater way up.
I broke the seal on the E&J VSOP
And I drank.
I tossed back the carmel colored fluid
In hopes that it would become magic serum.
I huddled right next to the heater,
And wished my chills away.
Since the heater nor the flame cured my shakes,
I drank.
I tossed back another mouthful and my eyes watered,
My stomach fluttered.
It took so much to get that effect.
It saddened my numb self that the butterflies died so quick.
