My Cheating Heart

I fall for the poets who
lay it on the line
baring their all

telling life's stories
in the rugged, bare knuckles
way only they can

in awe my heart breaks
that I will never
taste the salt off their brow

as they sweat it all out
at work and hitting life hard

these men make me tremble
in their presence
such forces to be reckoned with

passion drips from their ink stained
hands strong with the grit of life

living on the edge
taking me on journeys
as they ride the sea
or dead lifting pressing their limits

men with fortitude
sexy, tender and brutal
all in an erotic package

real men teasing me
no I will never taste them
or feel them against my bare flesh
always just out of reach
but that's the way I like it

just like my whiskey
I love the way it burns
