Haunting melodies

I'm haunted by this soft melody
Because it holds so many memories
The piano pulls at my heart strings
And tears fall as the lady starts to sing
Her words are heaviness on my chest
The tone in her voice
Brings me under duress
And as her voice rises and falls
I crumple to my knees
I'm on the floor

I sit in silence, silently  listening
The tears in my begin glistening

Just as she hits the chorus
Where my favourite part begins
I'm taken back to a time
Where you'd sit with a drink and sing

The softness of your voice
Sad music was your choice
And back then I never really heard the words
And now I understand
I can hear with my ears the heartache
Now I fully comprehend

As as his low and husky voice
chimes in
With words that are lined with velvet
And here there story begins

And in return
Her solo of silence
whisks him away
With a loving defiance

Then the rhythm kicks back in
The mix of passionate debate between her and him

My imagination once again takes me away
To the melody
The velvet sways

Lost in voices
And piano keys
Their words
All combine
To such beautiful harmonies

And here I am
Like an intrusion
Are you listening to
Or is that an illusion
For I thought I saw you dancing
To the melodies they made
And then I realised that was years ago
That you showed me the music lovers played x
