Sunshine Lovers
How the thorns bemoan the fallen pedals
Who once did swell
Basking in adoration
With graceful movements that burst
with the sun
Balancing like pouring tea-kettles
On straws of imperfection
Straws made so by
the hideous blemish of the ever-hated thorn
These outcast, rebellious warriors
who only ever strive
to be guardians
For a fickle and fleeting love
from these tender, blooming ladies
Stand strong
lonely soldiers
The sun grows warmer
Lengthening days to make ready promises
For the return of your precious
Harlots
Who once did swell
Basking in adoration
With graceful movements that burst
with the sun
Balancing like pouring tea-kettles
On straws of imperfection
Straws made so by
the hideous blemish of the ever-hated thorn
These outcast, rebellious warriors
who only ever strive
to be guardians
For a fickle and fleeting love
from these tender, blooming ladies
Stand strong
lonely soldiers
The sun grows warmer
Lengthening days to make ready promises
For the return of your precious
Harlots
