Horizon Shift
Desert starkness allows no rest.
In tandem, we star navigate.
Wills plummet in the nightly
dance, when eternity shines
overhead. The tracks behind
us sift and fade in the sands.
The weeks shiver inwards, yet
our path is undefined. A myriad
turns find us with red scorpion
tales untold. It is only in the now
that I breathe, the minutes lost
with you surfacing at last.

You know what, Atakti? This poem rocks... but it's 4am here, my words are clinging to my brain cells like shit to a sheep's ass, so you need to excuse me, I need another three days to come up with an insane comment.
So until then, you just have to settle for... this poem rocks!!! Cool lines too!

re: re: Re: Horizon Shift
It's been 11 days since I last read this poem, but this time it's 5am and I'm sick with the flu.
You know the first time I read this I poem, I thought, what the fuck is Atakti writing about the Australian explorer William John Wills??? It was the "Wills plummet" that triggered the thought. Perhaps this initial misinterpretation gave me that sense of being tragically lost.
I love to explore vast sand dune areas along the Australian coast. I always have this urge to run into them and get lost. It's windy, with the sands always shifting so you really get this sense of disorientation and that the sand hills are alive [Dune - David Lynch].
This is what this piece conjures for me. A powerful piece of writing, Atakti and well worth coming back for another read.

Oh, sorry to hear, hope you're better soon...
Wow, the poem has certainly triggered a lot of thinking. I don't know this explorer Wills, but a quick google tells me he came to an untimely end... Your Dune exploration is much closer to what I was thinking (damn, I vaguely remember the trailer for that movie, those worms... *shudder*)
Lost but constantly finding new paths - thank you for a wonderful in-depth commentary, Case. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts. Please get some rest and chicken soup!

Atakti
It took me a few reads to get to that 'eureka, by Jove I think I've got it' moment. your talent for imagery is very impressive, nearly as impressive as your talent for Chinese puzzles
I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can suggest here, I can't see anything out of place or needing attention
good stuff Lady, shine on

Craic, your scrutiny I appreciate. It's a bit of a mystery, even to me, I'll admit. This is one to muse over...
Thank you for the footprints on my page.

I thought I'd come back and dip my toes back in the literary waters but, you make me want to go skinny dipping. It's good to see you couldn't lose your gift if it was stolen and hidden from you. A wonderful poem good job.

Thinking and rolling - a strange mood was more to blame, Soul. A long distance view, with a big picture in it. Big enough for a desert, apparently.
Thank you for the comment and the sigh...

I enjoyed the read, thank's! I think the analogy used here is fitting and the key lies in the unknown...I like to think that even the stars surprise themselves at times. Lovely work

A very spiritual write, I thought of how Lizards and Salamanders walk out in the Desert.....
I also thought of the word "transformation"

Mourganna, twice I thought about putting lizards in this... We must be on the same wavelength.
A journey and a transformation, isn't that the point? Thank you for your thoughts...
