Desert

Oh let the sun beat down upon my face.
As across the desert i race.
Stars to fill my dream.
As they move across the universes stream.

I am a traveller of both time and space.
The unmarked byways i trace.
To be where I have been.
This world has seldom seen.

All I see turns to brown.
In its richness i drown.
As the sun burns the ground.
Only the wind for sound.

And my eyes fill with sand
My face becomes tanned.
As I scan this wasted land.
Never changed by man’s hand.

Pilot of the storm who leaves no trace.
A storm with no grace.
Like thoughts inside a dream.
Ever changing its stream.

I will return again.
And the desert will reign.
Across the sea of years.
Clearing away my tears.

With no provision but an open face.
And my god’s grace.
Fill my sails.
With imagined tales.
