if you would

stand here with me
on your balcony at dawn,
the day is cold but
warm in your arms,

my head on your shoulder,
fingertips trace
the small of my back,
invite me closer

and I would buy
your silence,
it is golden
to kiss your lips,
taste words
unfolding,

I would hush
all memories
up to this moment,
say your name
as if it is foreign,

when it falls
from my tongue
to your skin,
I grow feverish
from wanting

to set fire
to this need,
take me in
and lay me down
across your
unmade bed,

you've offered
the world
but I'll have
you instead
