You Taste Like Honey, But You're Dry Like Cornbread
Honey, I swear to God I’ll never forget,
I swear to God I still love you.
Honey, I swear to God I’ll never regret,
I swear to God and by heaven above you.
Your voice still sings like a bell when it’s rung,
But it’s hit a note too high and now it sounds hollow.
Your name still tastes good on my tongue,
But like cornbread you’ve dried up and now I have to swallow.
And besides, you let me down.
You raised me up and broke my heart
And left me there to drown
In the blood you had planned to spill from the start.
So after all this time I guess I lied,
My love for you just fell down and died.
