Near Death Experience (NDE)
Her eyes fluttered
her chest sank
they became frenzied
couldn't lose a patient
she watched them
and wished they would stop
she walked outside
and felt the sun
she touched a boy
who did not see her
but he shivered
held his jacket closer
then she coughed in pain
closed her eyes
and woke up to faces
of doctors and nurses
She closed her eyes
reining in her pain
she shed silent tears
wishing she was dead again
the peace she touched for a while
was something she wanted for keeps.
