A Star Blinks Out
Drifting in space
my heart like a pulsating star
in a wink it blazes hot
then blinks out
crashes to the ground
nothing but a dead rock now
picked up as someone's keepsake
who like me once dreamed of the cosmos
disenchanted I no longer gaze upon the heavens
my heart heavy
I miss your presence
it's left a void in me
though you were never mine
reality slaps me hard
I fall to the ground
like a dying star
left behind like so much debris
just dust, rubble under someone's feet

such a strong emotion behind this poem. I to know this feeling. it is so over powering and overwhelming it could kill you if you don't watch out. if ya ever need a hand up mine is out.
