Given Up
It’s escaped my sin,
It pries out within,
I drown in sorrow,
A cut to the morrow.
I’m a person who cries,
A person who sighs,
If you cut me, I bleed,
If you starve me, I need.
I have a brain,
I’m not insane,
I am an illness,
A plague.
On my last leg I stumble, fall,
Now I’m at a crawl,
Now in rain,
Now in pain.
I hold my breath,
And wait for death,
Do you understand?
How will I land?
On firm foundation!
I yell across the nation!
My savior, my life,
You saved me from my strife,
But everything can be changed from just one night.
