My Little Princess

My Dear Little Princess,
On the day you were born,
Your daddy must admit,
He was a little forlorn.

There were a few complications,
That no-one could've known,
And not until you arrived,
Were any of them shown.

When you finally came,
You were lacking for air,
Daddy was worried,
But the nurses took great care.

Within a few moments,
You were as right as can be,
And we shared our first moment together,
While I held you close to me.

I sang you a song,
And was sincerely hopin',
You'd like the choice,
While I sang 'With Arms Wide Open'.

Ever since that day,
My unconditional love for you easily made me blind,
I want you to know my Little Princess,
You're always on Daddy's mind.

What happened between me and Mommy,
Was never in any way your fault,
Unfortunately, those things sometimes happen,
Once they begin there's no way to halt.

Although I'm not there with you,
I still have this to say,
I have your picture with me,
And it allows me to see you everyday.

I'm so very sorry my Little Princess,
And it often makes me cry,
That I'm not there with you all the time,
When you're a little older I can explain in more detail why.

To say just a little,
On both sides were feelings very strong,
And what that means,
Is that Mommy and Daddy just couldn't get along.

Right now you live with Mommy,
On a commonwealth isthmus,
But Daddy is doing his best,
To try and fly you out this Christmas.

Time is passing so quickly,
It's enough to make a head swirl,
You're no longer my little baby,
You're Daddy's 8 year old big girl.

I love you my Little Princess,
You have such a beautiful smile,
I hope one day you'll want to come out this way,
And live with Daddy for awhile.

Remember this my Little Princess,
This will always be the utmost of true,
As our special song goes,
"There will never be a father whom loves his daughter more than I love you!"
