Captivity
Being held as captive in a beautiful paradise
Is still a sad and bitter captivity the same
Though the sun is warm and welcoming
The captive's heart is cold yet untamed
She still dreams going beyond the boundary
To escape this asylum made for protection
She never asked for this green carpeted
This nature encased, unmarked prison
There's no barbed wire to severe her limbs
Nor watch towers with guards and guns
It's an unguarded captivity, a loose bondage
It's a long tedious sentence, and not quite done
She sees the ones outside her daily prison yard
Walking free, going places, and having good laughs
With a sigh, she turns away, depressed by what she sees
Somehow always wanting what she can not have
Is still a sad and bitter captivity the same
Though the sun is warm and welcoming
The captive's heart is cold yet untamed
She still dreams going beyond the boundary
To escape this asylum made for protection
She never asked for this green carpeted
This nature encased, unmarked prison
There's no barbed wire to severe her limbs
Nor watch towers with guards and guns
It's an unguarded captivity, a loose bondage
It's a long tedious sentence, and not quite done
She sees the ones outside her daily prison yard
Walking free, going places, and having good laughs
With a sigh, she turns away, depressed by what she sees
Somehow always wanting what she can not have
